"We adopted a dog from a shelter in February 2025 and quickly realized he was demonstrating anxiety and fear. We originally hired a trainer to help us acclimate our pet, but discovered he was not the "trainer" he proclaimed to be. We did try a few of his methods, but we still did not feel our dog was adjusting. After some extensive research, we found Matt at K9 Learning Academy LLC. We reached out to him and made an appointment to meet him, and for him to meet our dog. After some discussion we all felt he would benefit from the Board and Train so Matt could have one on one with him. It was a difficult decision to make as our "fur baby" would be away from us for several weeks, but we wanted to help him any way we could. When he finally came home, it took a few days for him to adjust to our routine again, but he adjusted well. Matt made us aware his anxiety was from fear. Matt is very knowledgeable of behavior as well as nutrition and has an extensive "tool box" of staff as well as connections with other professionals he has reached out to. If he is not quite sure of a behavior, diet or medication he reaches out for advice. We had questions about several issues, and he always gets back to us with answers. We have also made some changes to his diet and it seems to be helping. Matt continues to train at home with us once a week and will continue to do so until our dog has overcome his fears. We highly recommend Matt and his staff at K9 Learning Academy. We can't thank the entire staff enough for assisting in his training as well as the compassion they provided our dog while there!"

"Our Diesel was almost 1 year old when he went to be trained with Matt. He is 165 lbs. We had not been able to walk him in over a month! He pulled so much when my husband was walking him, my husband was having terrible back pain. Diesel was with Matt for 3 weeks. Diesel is now able to be walked with no issues! "Matt is amazing!! We got a 2year old rescue black lab last fall after being told he was great with people, including children, just had no training. When we brought him home he was a nervous mess. Would not come into house, once in wouldn't go out w/o us carrying him, wouldn't look at us, etc. over 3 weeks we got him to trust my husband and I, and got him house trained and he was very sweet with us. But whenever anyone came over he was very wary, bristling and occasionally lunged and snapped at them(no biting tho). We knew it was fear aggression but had trouble finding a good trainer who would work with him. We have small grandchildren and a lot of people come to our house so I was a nervous wreck, which also fed into Chester's anxiety. Then we found Matt! He is so calm! So the big test was this past weekend-I had all 6 of my grandkids(. 5 years and under) and their parents for a long weekend and Chester did great!!!! I was a nervous wreck the 1st day, but was able to relax after. He mostly ignored everyone, but that was perfect!!! Thank God for Matt! He did an amazing job not only training Chester, but working on his confidence and teaching us how to do the same! I would 100% recommend k-9 learning academy!!"

"Stu and Matt have really been a blessing to me and my baby! For the last 3 years it's only been him and I and he's only gotten more protective of me. "Stu did wonders for our boy. He was only 1-1/2 years old when we adopted him, but wasn't socialized and was very reactive, at times even redirecting towards our other dog. Over the next 1-1/2 years we tried two different trainers. He learned some commands but it didn't address his fear. My stress level was high all the time because he was unpredictable and I'm sure he fed off that too. Short of taking him back to the kill shelter we got him from, we didn't know what to do. "I originally contacted K9 Learning Academy to work with our one year old rescue dog who was mistreated by a former owner, extremely anxious, suffered from horrible separation anxiety, and a was a nonstop barker to boot. After our first couple of sessions with Matt and Morgan he was magically transformed into a totally different dog. It was nothing short of miraculous. He learned basic commands and they taught us ways to quell his barking and manage his anxiety without medication. However, during these sessions it became increasingly obvious that our over-indulged 3 year old dog needed training too. A LOT of training. We had allowed him to basically do what he wanted whenever he wanted - bark, eat, jump, resource guard, all the bad habits. At that point Matt and Morgan turned their attention to him and all I can say is WOW! After several sessions with them he has actually become a remarkably polite dog with excellent manners. The barking, the jumping, the separation anxiety, the leash pulling, all of it has improved dramatically. "We received Mila our king shepherd at 8 weeks old. We knew from her birth that we were going to need a professional trainer due to the size she was going to be. After researching many facilities and long hours on the internet I found Matthew Dellaira from K9 Learning Academy. From the first visit to our home to meet Mila we saw an improvement. He explained in detail what I was doing both right and wrong. Mila thought I was her personal chew and pouncing toy. He not only trained Mila but he also trained me. "Matt was a magical dog trainer. My 10 month old lab dog Athena was a stubborn dog. She have been 2 puppy schools when she was younger. She did well in schools but mis-behave at home as she grew older and bigger (85 pounds). She ran off to the streets a couple of times and she went further each time. After a long chase in my neighborhood I decided to get some help. Fortunately, I found Matt. Matt came to our house and layed out the clear training plan. I was so surprised that with just a session of boundary training, Athena never crossed the line anymore; Not a single time ! It is magically feeling, seeing Athena free roaming in my backyard without having to worry she run away. "I was taking my 10 month old golden retriever for obedience classes at a local facility. "Stuart was Great. Our newly rescued dog Rallo, was like 2 different dogs. Inside he was the most loving and well behaved dog. We took him outside and he wants to chase and bark at, runners, cyclist loud cars and other dogs. He is 75lbs and has a pretty vicious sounding bark, and now the terror of the Neighborhood. "Recently signed up for a group class for my 7 month old rescue pup! We did Basic Obedience course. "We found K9 Learning Academy when we were searching for a trainer for our two American Staffordshire Terriers. During our consultation we shared with Matt what our main concerns were with our dogs behavior: basic obedience, coming when called, pulling on the leash, and leash aggression towards other dogs. "Let me first start by saying we have never hired a dog trainer before. After our experience with Matt? I wish I had done it with every dog I've ever owned. This was our first time not only using a trainer but adopting a dog we've never met. When we first got Macy she was an absolute handful. But in just a few short lessons, Matt had her doing things we didn't think could be possible. Our biggest fear was Thanksgiving day. With many guests coming over and knowing how she liked to jump on people. We were especially fearful of the three-year-olds that would be in our home that evening. Well much to our surprise and delight Miss Macy put our fears to rest with pleasant and loving behavior. We couldn't have been more surprised and happier. This pup was rescued by a foster family and lived for the most part outdoors on a farm with many other dogs. Thus imbedding in her a pretty wild demeaner. However when Matt came to our home he turned Miss Macy into a very obedient lovable addition to our family. It's nothing to take her for walks without a leash she is so well behaved. And the compliments we get with regard to her manners feel great. Her tendency to be a bit wild had us quite concerned and apprehensive about this adoption. So much so, that it was breaking our hearts that we may have to have considered giving her back up. As we weren't sure we'd ever be able to handle her. But it was Matt to the rescue! "I called K 9 Learning Academy because my 17 month old English mastiff decided he didn"t want to get in the back of my Traverse. Matt came gave me a few training tips which worked. He trained me how to work with Sebastian. We worked one week ; he now will climb in the car without shaking. We still have some work to do but, Sebastian is 100% better than he was. Matt came again and said we are doing great. I can call any time if needed. Super flexible with when each training session is and he works with you to make sure you know how to continue to train your dog while he isn't present between sessions. I adopted a very high energy husky pup who loved to pull on his leash during walks and was incredibly mouthy at home continually play biting and hurting my girlfriend. "We had used Matt previously to work with our very "energized" collie Abby. He worked patiently with us until she became the civilized dog that she now is. Recently we absorbed another family into our home and they came with 3 dogs.
